Raemoir, awarded Scotland’s Country House Hotel of the Year four years running by the Scottish Hotel Awards, is one of the most beautiful in the Highlands. Located near Banchory, the gateway to Royal Deeside and the Whisky, Castle and Golf Trails, the recently refurbished Georgian house provides exceptional levels of 2 AA Rosette/Michelin recommended cuisine and comfortably furnished 3 AA Star accommodations.

2 distinct buildings house the 18 individually decorated ensuite bedrooms - the older, the Ha’Hoose, dates back to 1715 and has 4 rooms. Directly in front stands the Georgian mansion which became a hotel in 1943 and holds the other 14 rooms.
In the grounds and behind the doors of Raemoir you will find a world of privacy and peace. The Panelled Lounge has open views over the grounds, lawns and Royal Deeside beyond and it makes an ideal place for our popular Afternoon Teas, while the atmosphere in the evening is replaced with a warm ambience in the winter when the shutters are closed and the fires lit. It is not unusual for guests to drift off to sleep in the comfort of the large armchairs.

The equally impressive Dining Room, historically the Oval Ballroom, and available to use as such, is a unique feature of the building with its Victorian flocked velvet covered walls and hung with 19th century family portraits and gilt wood mirrors. The room underlines the grandeur of days gone by with its vast, curved windows overlooking the grounds, making it one of the most splendidly-atmospheric dining rooms in the Highlands.

The Big Fish bar is dominated by the 96lb “monster” which sits above the well stocked Whisky Cabinet and serves as a reminder that not all of them get away. Next door, the Private Sitting Room affords smaller parties the opportunity of privacy whether it be for a meeting or dining for up to 16, and the larger Georgian Room accommodates over 70 and is used frequently for weddings and meetings.

Outside, we have our clearspan Marquee which can accommodate up to 300, although it can be extended to create space large enough for almost any event. Eleven acres of secluded wood and parkland lend themselves perfectly for private parties, outdoor activities and corporate days and comes complete with a helipad for those wishing to arrive or leave in style.

The Hill of Fare behind the hotel is accessible directly from the grounds and provides increasingly wonderful panoramas the higher you climb. Near the top it is possible to see large swathes of North East Scotland countryside with vistas to Aberdeen and the North Sea. All this offers a quite unique and stunning backdrop, particularly for a bride and groom and, weather permitting, we can take you up there for photographs with a difference.

We might be close to Aberdeen and just 15 minutes from Westhill but the seclusion of Raemoir means you could be a world away. The views in all directions are of nothing but hills, forest and countryside.
