The Spring Quartet is a string quartet made up from members of one family. All of them trained (at different times) at the Royal Northern (formerly Manchester) College of Music. Emily, the youngest, leads the Quartet on 1st violin. Penny, her sister, plays viola, mum Pam plays 2nd violin and dad David plays cello. They have been playing together as a string quartet for over 20 years.

The Spring Quartet plays mainly for weddings in Lancashire, Cheshire, Derbyshire, Greater Manchester, South Yorkshire and North Wales although they have travelled frequently to the Lake District and West Midlands. They book by the session, not the hour, so the only important time is the start. After twenty years they are well aware that weddings don't run by the clock so if you're running late, you don't need to worry about your musicians disappearing.

The Spring Quartet offers a number of packages from Basic Package - just the pre-Ceremony and Ceremony, through to Package Three Ultimate for which they will play pre-Ceremony, Ceremony, Drinks Reception and Wedding Breakfast through to the sweet course with additional items from Ponticello, the electric violin duo. The Ponticello Duo are also available seperately as is the Leader, Emily, playing solo violin and solo saxophone.

As you would expect, the repertoire of the Spring Quartet includes everything from Bach to Beatles, Mozart to Metallica, Strauss to Snow Patrol. The electric violin duo Ponticello, if booked, using backing tracks, add a selection of forties swing and Ratpack numbers as well as some showstopping specials for between courses.
