The George Hotel is a beautiful 500-year-old coaching inn located in the heart of the town centre. The hotel is brimming with character and historic charm and is less than 3 minutes walk from Colchester Castle and the park .. ideal for some perfect wedding photography.

Our venue boasts two function rooms each with its own private bar facilities. All catering is offered onsite, our Head Chef and his brigade produce genuine gastronomic works of art. Menus can be tailor-made to suit your tastes and requirements.

With 47 luxurious bedrooms, we can offer the bridal couple as well as their guests the convenience of onsite accommodation.

The Tudor Room is an elegant area of The George Hotel with its own private bar and French doors opening into the quaint court yard. Being in the oldest part of the hotel it features many period characteristics. This is an ideal room for a more intimate gathering - capacity is 34 for a sit down meal.

The County Suite is our larger function room which is highly popular for wedding celebrations. The suite can accommodate up to 60 guests for a wedding breakfast and can be tuned into your perfect wedding reception for the evening. There is ample space for live entertainment such as a band or DJ. Adjacent to The County Suite is the Grahams Lunge which is also available for private hire allowing for extra space.
